Hotel Review Courtyard By Marriott

Downtown Atlanta

Nestled in the bustle of Atlanta Georgia’s historic downtown district sits the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, a building that holds just as much cultural history in its renovated walls as the skyscraper sitting across the street. When coming to this hotel, you need to remember why you’ve chosen it… to experience the history of Atlanta’s soda mill days firsthand. Walking into the lobby, I was immediately taken back by the elegance of the surroundings, a mixture of rich dark leather furniture, marble, and sleek modern lines that bowed to the history of the building without being too gaudy.

The check-in process went smoothly and I was able to use the feature that allows you to both begin and ends your stay at the same time. Translation… no scrambling around at check out time while checking your watch to make sure you’ll get to the airport on time. Atlanta is notorious for having some of the most congested streets during the time period between 3-5:30 PM. One can easily find himself stuck on a three-hour traffic jam. Speaking of making it through delays, the Courtyard MarriottĀ sits right beside the Marta, Atlanta’s shuttle service that not only takes you to the airport in record time but it also gives you a pretty darn good view of the city.

Heading towards my temporary home, I found an exercise room among many other amenities. One of the great things about this hotel is the emphasis on security. To get upstairs you must tap the back of your room key against the sensor before the elevator will move. Feeling beyond impressed by the cleanliness of this historic hotel and the ultra-modern design, I head to my room, a corner unit with an odd number. More on this tidbit later in the article.

Inside my immaculate room, I found a coffee bar, refrigerator, ice bucket, and an overall design that reminded me of something straight outta HGTV’s Color Splash. No kidding. The design made me want to stay in the cozy, but oddly shaped room for longer than the short time frame I’d been given. Take a look at a few pictures here and be sure to watch the video I made for IGTV and YouTube.

I was equipped with plenty of towels, shampoo, and soap by Paul Mitchell… who else? I enjoyed using the face soap so much that I did a mad search online to find some of it when I returned home. It left my skin so soft. The bathroom was clean and had a ton of mirrors in just the right place, a convenient way to make it easy to snap a few selfies from all angles. The wardrobe in the room, a piece of furniture that tied right in to the historical vibe of the building, held an iron plus board (yay) plenty of hanging space for any size wardrobe and most importantly to me, a programmable safe for your valuables.

You can enjoy room service provided by the in-house cafe, the Bistro, or you can do as we did and head out to the bustling streets of downtown Atlanta and enjoy the sites, sounds and foods from places like Ray’s in the City or the Hard Rock Cafe. After spending the day in Atlanta’s infamous botanical garden, we headed back to our rooms, stopping by the hotel’s mini store and grabbing a few goodies on the way.

Overall, the Courtyard By Marriott hotel has a mega star vibe to it and I would most definitely recommend the Courtyard by Marriott to my friends.
