Skin Care 303 Bioderma Micellar Water Review Makeup Removal System

I was so excited to receive this package. I’ve heard tons of great things about micellar water makeup removal systems and as someone whose skin requires more specialized care than it once did, I was eager to learn more about this fountain of youth. So I set out on a twelve-week journey to try and understand how the system could help me.

Most importantly, I wanted to know whether this micellar craze was going to be something that sticks around for years (think Noxcema) or simply another passing fad bolstered by social media. Bioderma lived up to the hype, and I’m happy to write this review for you.

The ethnic skin has specific needs. However, the trials of caring for multiracial skin can be hard to combat and conquer. No kidding. My skin contains a combination of both oily and dry patches. At times, my pores remind me of craters on the moon. The older I get, the worse these issues become. My skin care regimen has to come prepared for battle. There’s no messing around with half-wit products for this girl.

So, without further ado (aka rambling) let’s get started with this review.

I used each product over a course of twelve weeks. I’m still using the waters designed for hydration and purification even now that the trial has ended.

Here’s the list of what I received:

Bioderma Micellar water for hydration
Bioderma Micellar Water for sensitive skin
Bioderma Micellar Water for purification
Bioderma Moisturizer Toner
Bioderma Eye Cream
Bioderma Deshine Moisturizer

At first, I had no clue what to do with this system. I did some research on YouTube and found several videos demonstrating the proper way to clean your skin with micellar water. You’ll want to buy a bag of oval cleansing pads. Get a well-made pad, one that contains several layers of cotton. And you want to make sure you get the palm-sized pads or they’ll wind up being too small to remove all your makeup.

The Bioderma Micellar Water and Moisturizing System Review

I found that the best way to get the most usage out of these products was to rotate the days/weeks I used each one. For example, I used the purification water for a week and then switched to the hydration bottle. Whenever I felt as though my skin was becoming irritated (and that happens during the end of winter and pollen season) I’d use the water for sensitive skin.

The hydrating toner was perfect after I finished using the purification water. When I tell you that these waters thoroughly clean your skin, I’m not joking. You know what thorough means…raw, dry skin when you’re done using the system. No worries. Simply add some moisture by using the Bioderma Moisturizing toner and you’re good to go.

Using the bottle of micellar water for hydration every day produced the opposite results for me. As the temperatures rose, so did that infamous JLo-style shine factor I have going on. I read somewhere that this is called a “dewy” look. Um, yeah. I say it’s greasy. Bioderma’s mattifying moisturizer has been a lifesaver. I use it in the mornings before applying my foundation and guess what? No more shiny face for me. Sorry, JLo. The dewy look just isn’t my thing.

Which brings us to the last product I received…

The Bioderma Eye Cream

The box states that the eye cream reduces puffiness and black circles. The two things that plague a woman’s beauty regimen. I was surprised by the effectiveness of this product. I’m a skeptic. Most things don’t work for me. I’ve tried highlighters and cucumber masks and a host of other products with absolutely no luck. I stalk the profiles of my favorite beauty bloggers and think: “maybe I’ll finally find the right miracle product for me.” That wonder item would hide dark circles and those terrible phenomena we must all face at some point or other, a little thing called hormonal aging.

After diligently using Bioderma’s eye cream for twelve weeks, I can’t confirm that it’s the miracle juice I thought it would be. Those stubborn little eye bags I have underneath my eyes have refused to budge. Sighs. However, I can tell you that the dark circles under my eyes lightened up a bit. I also credit that to drinking large amounts of water. Keep in mind that no skin care regimen will be 100% effective if you’re not taking care of yourself from the inside.

Overall, I’m super satisfied with Bioderma’s system. The large bottles of micellar water last a long time. The toner and moisturizer work well enough. I would definitely recommend this system to women who need a fast makeup removal system and to folks with combination skin.
