A Fashion Story

Geek Chic Flower Girl

On this weeks segment of A Fashion Story, I’m showcasing a convertible outfit that  I call the Geek Chic Flower Girl because, well… I finally get the chance to show off one of my favorite pair of Ray Bans eyeglasses and because there are flowers blooming everywhere in this photo. 😀

  1. Floral Print Shirt Dress Forever21 $12.99 (Similar, but the stores have the one I’m wearing)
  2. Jean Jacket Shein.com $38.99
  3. Glasses Ray Ban – Wayfarer 2000 You can find this style in several places throughout the cyber world or you can buy a pair at your local eye docs office the way I did. The frame before discounts was around $170.00

I adore this outfit. You can wear the shirt dress (a little gem from Forever 21) in so many ways. Plus you can wear this ensemble for work or play. The jacket (one of several goodies I received from Shein.com) can be removed if you get too warm. As I did yesterday when I wore this. That’s why I specifically labeled this as a convertible outfit in the subtitle.

Does your state also experience the lovely hi-lo effects of weather these days? I’m talking about those days when the temperature hits 35 chilly degrees in the morning and sits well into the comfy 70’s by afternoon.

I live in sunny, but unpredictable North Carolina. Dressing comfortably becomes a sort of mission in those first few weeks of spring. My friends and I talk about how we don’t know what to wear. Long sleeves get hot by the day’s end. Short sleeves aren’t enough when you’re stepping out of the house on a thirty-three degree morning. What’s a girl supposed to do?

The fashionistas night-light, that inner beam of creativity found in ladies of style, clicked on in my head. If you followed the Fashion Files last year, then you probably know I wrote a couple of posts about outfits you can wear on days when the weatherman doesn’t even know what to predict. In case you didn’t see them, here are the links again:

The trick to surviving spring’s unpredictability (I should probably include autumn in the list too) is to wear clothing in removable layers in various fabric densities. A long, light-textured cardigan over your favorite tee. Rock a jean jacket over a flowy shirt dress. You can even remove the stockings if you like. Use your imagination and have fun while doing so!

Do you have any other ideas for surviving nature’s unpredictable days?
