The Fashion Files… Caught Up in the Swirl
Happy New Year, Agents of Fabulosity! I am super excited about diving into this new year and have no regrets about leaving 2015 behind. What do you think? Who agrees with me? I can say one good thing about 2015. It was definitely the year of discovery and realization. There were uplifting moments. Low days. Crazy days. Tons of disappointment. There were times when I felt as though the world had decided to go after my sanity, and other days that I didn’t want to see come to an end because they were that darn great. Somehow, I survived. The world didn’t end. The disappointments didn’t kill me, because it is true when they say: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
And now, I’m sitting here on my couch writing the first blog post of 2016. I chose a fashion post as my first article of the year because, well… a) fashion will play a larger role on LiWBF this year than it did in 2015 and b) I LOVE fashion. No, wait. I am obsessed with fashion. However, I love to save money and have a budget to consider. So you can count on me to continue seeking thrifty deals and fugal steals in 2016. Style rules every aspect of my life and has done so since I can remember.
This is a great time to be a fashionista of any age, and I find the enthusiasm among my fellow fashionistas and divos to be highly addicting and enthusiastic. LiWBF will be moving towards a street-wise and edgy, but classy look this year. Where 2015 was the year of discovery, 2016 will be the year you get to see a lifestyle blog that has finally found its mission! I’m ready. Let’s go!
Time to share this week’s Fashion Files. Now that we’ve talked a little about the psychology of today’s post, we can now move on to the details.
This week’s post is part of a collaboration between Live Well… Be Fabulous and the Dressin Group. I’m super excited to be working with this fabulously affordable new group of folks, as I think this brand is going to become a household name soon enough. If you’re like me, then you had a hard time letting go of summer this year. I mean, it was 76 degrees on Christmas Day.
Wardrobe versatility is just as much a necessity as the clothes themselves these days. Need ideas on what to wear? Don’t worry. I’ll be showcasing ways to wear “convertible outfits”, defined as an ensemble with layers of clothing that can be worn on both warm and cool days. These outfits work great on those bipolar days that are a combination of both.
Items in this Set:
- Slip Dress from Dressin.com
- Classic Leggings Forever21.com
- Rampage Jeliana Lace Up Combat Boots Macys.com
Additional Ways to Wear the Slip Dress featured on Dressin.com’s website…
Two more pics of me wearing the dress. I cannot wait until spring, so I can rock this baby without the leggings. Since it was 72 degrees on the day we took these pictures, the ability to remove a layer of clothing came in super handy.

“I think most people that I talk to now that are outside the industry look at it as this very glamorous world where people that have a good eye just pick things out of the sky and put looks together. And that’s not really what fashion and the fashion industry and being an editor means.”
Those of us who are on the inside know what it takes to coordinate outfits. It isn’t just about grabbing clothing and throwing your choices on your back. Its also about taking into consideration the art of fashion as a whole. It sometimes takes me weeks to coordinate an outfit. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
