I love movies, music, books, ballet… I guess it’s safe to say I’m a child of entertainment. 😀 What I most look forward to each year is that discussion with my friends, the one I have about the exciting movies coming up in the next months. After all 2013 was a huge hit. We had Man of Steel, Thor, Hunger Games, Riddick, the Hobbit… and some other honorable mentions I can’t remember at the moment, but that doesn’t mean those flicks weren’t any good, though. LOLÂ
And then December of 2013 arrived. The time to talk about the upcoming movie season was here! And guess what? I wasn’t very excited. I mean, Spiderman and Transformers are more suited for my kids. So I held strong to the one movie that became my token response for when anyone asked me about the upcoming season… the Hunger Games Mockingjay. Yep! Can’t wait.
But then, my sister reminded me about one little gem I’d overlooked. The sequel to 300. Yes, I’m excited. Of course I think this was a long time in the coming. No, I’m not angry. Not much patience left, but I’m still cool with waiting for something good.
With a little research, I was able to find six other films that have me clapping my hands and clicking my heels.Â
Here we go:Â
300: Rise of An EmpireÂ
Expect to see gratuitous scenes, bloodshed, battle, sexing… and more. These movies about the early days of the Spartan and Persian War weren’t intended for the faint of heart. With an abundance of male eye candy seen throughout the 2006 version starring Gerard Butler, the directors have taken a new direction with this version. Yep ladies! This time a woman will be leading the charge. I personally think that’s super cool.Â
Â
Noah
Â
I’m a history buff, a nerd, a lover of movies portraying biblical events and anything that can’t be explained inside of a textbook. I can’t think of the last time I saw someone tackle a Biblical story. Passion of the Christ comes to mind. Hmm. Anyway, I’m psyched about this one even more so than others on the list. Russel Crowe, Emma Watson and Jennifer Connelly… make us proud!
Â
Godzilla
Â
Don’t be cringing over there now. Hehe. I’m probably the only female among my group of friends who’s excited about this one. I mean, the Matthew Broderick version wasn’t all that great. But hey, how believable can a movie about a lizard the size of the Empire State Building really get? This one’s strictly for fantasy and fun folks. So free your mind, sit back and enjoy it.
Â
XMen: Days of Future Past
Â
Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the producers/creators/directors of the X-Men movies have touched on something great… fantastic writing and story lines about characters that aren’t real who know how to make us care. I don’t have any doubt that Professor X (same name as my oldest son, btw) and the unpredictably delightful Magneto will leave me with an experience to remember.Â
Â
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Â
At this point in the list, I bet you can tell I have two sons, right? 😀  2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes was considered a sleeper hit. The movie came out of nowhere and turned into something great. I was super excited to see that yet another sequel was in the works. Even more exciting to me was the little fact that James Franco (one of my movie star crushes) will return along with Andy Serkis, an actor who’s known for adding a certain amount of spice and insanity to his roles.
Â
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Â
Three words. Wait, I meant to say names: Suzanne Collins, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. November, 2014 cannot come fast enough, I don’t think. 😀
Â
Last, but by no means least, The Hobbit: There and Back Again
Yep! I’m pretty eclectic and I tend to prefer movies that offer an escape from normality. This list of screen gems handles that quite well, I do believe. What do you think?

Some good picks you have here! I’m particularly excited to see “Noah” and “Godzilla” 🙂
Oh I know. Those two are at the top of my list! I’m a Sci – Fi girl at heart. Thanks for stopping by Radu.
Noah looks amazing. And 300, will definitely get an eye…
I LOVE epic biblical movies. It’s nice to see someone tackling that genre again. 🙂 Thx so much for stopping by.
I love them too, and agree. 🙂
