DeclutterYourLifeI’m excited to find myself doing two things today: 1) Getting back to taking care of my blogazine, which I’ve shamefully been regretting over the past few months and 2) beginning the 31 Days to a Clutter Free Life challenge with Ruth Soukup and her fabulous gang over at LivingWellSpendingLess.com!

First, I’d like to apologize for being MIA over the past few months. Second, I want to tell you a large part of that absence was due to several factors relating to the goals of participating in this challenge along with preparing for several book launches the latter part of this year. Well… I’m back! And I’m planning on bringing even more fresh ideas for organization (super important for type A-B folks like me) and recipes (I’m learning more about this area everyday myself) entertainment and of course bucket loads of gorgeous photos to inspire and empower us visually.

Now, back to the 31 Days to Clutter Free Challenge. I thought this would be a great way to jump back idont-just-declutter-deownnto the blogging arena as we all could use as much inspiration as possible when it comes to that little demon known as clutter. And that’s exactly what it feels like… a vampire sucking our life energy up by tossing confusion and frustration into the mix of the overwhelming lifestyles we all lead on a daily basis. I don’t know about you, but a lot of “stuff” laying around my house gets me unfocused (and yes, this includes the infamous organized piles of mess as well). In the midst of cluttery things, I don’t feel as productive. On top of work life’s mounting pressures, I now have to come home to home life’s mounting piles. And guess what? They don’t go away. There’s no magical clutter pile fairy that’s going to come and relieve our woes. Believe me, I’ve waited around to see if this were true. Nope! We’re on our own with the task of organization.

Ruth’s challenge presented the perfect opportunity for me to begin taking back control of my life. Getting clutter free and happy for me will mean focusing on three areas: inside the home, outside the home and finances. Wait! Finances? Yep. More on this one later on in the month.

If you’d like to take part in this challenge, it’s not too late to join in on the fun. Simply head over to http://www.lwsleveryday.com/ and sign up to get updates from the LWSL Everyday forum.

Don’t want a daily reminder email? Then you can also download the kindle file or order the paperback so you can start applying Ruth’s ideas to your life every day as well.

I spent most of today’s 30-60 minute time frame identifying areas where clutter has taken over. Ruth instructed us to begin with a clean slate. So the boys and I attacked some of the basics earlier this week: vacuuming, emptying out the fridge and cleaning the kitchen counters. Yes, this challenge is going to be emotionally trying for me. I am, after all, a certified pack rat… aka hoarder. Getting rid of stuff makes me sweat and feel anxious. BUT… I can do this thing. lol

Stay tuned for a few of our before and after photos from Day 1 of the 31 Day Clutter Free Challenge! Whenever possible, I’ll be posting photos of my journey on here and the facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/livewellbefabulous
