Okay, so I never quite understood the no white after Labor Day rule. From what I hear in the fashion scene these days, no one else does either. As evidenced by Pantone’s reveal of the 2015 spring/summer color palette, the trend is slowly moving toward … drum rolls please. Pastels! Yep. They’re back, and I’m not the least bit surprised.

At first, I was devastated by this news. I mean, I am a former Goth girl. Black remains a staple of almost every outfit in my closet. It’s strong, it’s powerful. Not to mention it goes with everything and slims you down. However, I must admit that a few of the colors in the 2015 palette make for an interesting conversation, at least. Since I’ve already covered my thoughts on those colors, I figured I would think of a way to improvise on the palette.

Enter the color neutral/super pale pastel … white!

It’s innocent. Sweet. Pure. And surprisingly, I’ve grown to appreciate what I like to call the silent sexiness of white, a color that has its own appeal, a strength in the purity. There’s a reason Scandal’s Olivia Pope chooses to implement white as her wardrobe staple color. For that reason, I believe white rivals black as equally intense and well… kinda Gothic.

The trend this spring has moved back toward black and white together. Yeah, we have the Pantone forecast and colorful little baby doll dresses are popping up all over the place, but white was all over the runways during both the Milan and Paris Fashion Week kickoffs this year.

I’m excited, so I’ve included a collage of affordable pieces for you to add to your wardrobe. Go ahead. Make a statement. Enjoy the Gothic strength of this season’s white.
