Crush Craves The Cold Shoulder Collection

Guess what finally happened to me? I woke up one morning and started visiting the blogs of my super stylish friends and saw many of the gorgeous women all decked out and looking fly in this one particular item. Wanna know all about this magical item? Or why I’m even referring to it as magic? Don’t you just hate those scenes that show you the actors’ faces and we know from their expressions that something either terrible or great is about to be revealed. Me too! But you have to admit it’s a great suspense builder, and the delayed moment tactic serves the purpose of holding our attention. Are you still reading? Good. No worries, I won’t keep you waiting another 30 seconds before revealing the one item my bloggerly friends were all wearing. The fabulous trend of the moment (one that has come and gone throughout the years…see Madonna’s LA Island Bonita video for proof of this theory) is the off-the-shoulder blouse or Cold Shoulder as it’s called in fashion circles these days.

These gorgeous blouses come in all sizes (from the cropped siren style to the boho vixen shape) and colors and patterns. Cold shoulder blouses are versatile and can be worn a thousand different ways. A style exists for every type of fashionista (from the girl next door to the sexy bombshell to the haute lady in heels). I visit many blogs and have run across women that fit these descriptions and so much more. I have so much fun discovering fellow fashion lovers. The aspect of showing skin without revealing too much skin (talk about double standards, right?) has been a subtle sexiness that stems from way back in the day. Think Geisha here. The idea is to drive ’em crazy without going over the top. Yes, the cold shoulder trend will be around for a long time to come, I’m sure.
This month I’m crushing on several styles and colors and options from many of my favorite brands. And yes, I have bought several of these cold shoulder tops and even found a gorgeous romper from Charlotte Russe that takes the trend to a new level of femininity. Off-the-shoulder tops can be worn with body con skirts, jeans (especially fit&flare bell bottoms), and maxis. I’ve styled outfits that will feature my cold shoulder lovelies paired with all three of those staple items. However, there’s one trend that I feel truly rocks the socks off folks when paired with an off-the-shoulder blouse…the button down denim mini.

I adore denim skirt and I’m still wearing a mini denim skirt that I own from 10 years ago, it just don’t go out of style. I haven’t tried off shoulder top though but am really loving your selections here.

You’re so right…I’m sure that bare shoulder trend is here to stay. It’s been popular for longer than a year and it looks like it will last for a while. Personally, I really like this trend…and there are so many variations. Some blouses have cut outs only for shoulders (this is pratical because we don’t need a special bra) and some are all open….anyway, it is a very fun trend. It always makes me think of boho chic…and that’s always good.
I like to see off the shoulder blouses and tops worn with jeans and denim skirts….that’s always a winning combo. Love your picks!
