Farewell Summer Spotify Playlist
We’re super excited to introduce this week’s new series, a group of posts dedicated to music, something we’ve been working towards for a while here on LiWBF!
Music has always played an important role in our lives and being able to showcase some of our favorite tunes and to talk about the way the songs affect us excites me.
A long time ago, I recorded and self-published my first Christmas CD. Exciting, right? What made this venture even more stimulating was the demand buzzing around our music both before and after the CDs hit the market. Folks told me I had a unique voice, and that they heard shades of Mariah and Whitney in my vocals (super huge compliments). Maybe one day I’ll be return to musical arena. However, life has taken me in new directions and presented opportunities that line up with the person I’ve become. And I’m happy with being that girl.
For now, we’re going to enjoy showcasing the glorious work of the many talented artists out there today. Some of them might be familiar while others are new. Here at LiWBF, we have eclectic tastes in music, so you’ll find various styles of tunes.However, the one thing our selections have in common is the ability to evoke strong emotions with their words and voices alone. There’s something for everyone in this pilot post because well, saying farewell to summer calls for a different type of celebratory mode, right?
You’ll find everything from Madonna to Prince to the Civil Wars and everything in between as we say goodbye to both old and new loves and ventures we experienced over the summer while sitting on a porch covered in fallen leaves. These songs remind us of a time about to be long gone, but gives us hope at the end of the day. When listening, you’ll hear the light-hearted shades of a summer party along with hints of the emotions felt when summer goes away. I like to compare the way I feel when listening to these tunes to the pang I get when I realize the sun sets about an hour earlier than it did back in June.
Whether it’s expressing emotion through powerfully charged words highlighted by beautiful melodies or a thumping beat that reminds us of the ladyboss inside each one of us, you’ll find each one of these tunes presents and expresses pre-nostalgic feelings of love. Perfect for saying farewell to Summer and easing into the intriguing transition that comes along with fall. But that calls for showcasing another group of songs so stay tuned!
