A Fashion Story All Torn Up About It

I’m super excited to share this week’s story with you! So let’s get the formalities out-of-the-way first. This post is part of a collaboration with Sheinside but all opinions and the views in this story are based on my own personal experience with the brand throughout the years.

Now on to the fun stuff. The reason I’m so excited is because I’ve finally found the one article of clothing that pushed me out of my comfort zone and straight into a love and newfound affection for a trend that’s gone strong for the past year. And that would be… drumroll… The cold-shoulder!

But wait! Is she giving us the cold-shoulder in the winter time, you ask? Yep! That’s right. I am. However, this isn’t your typical blouse. This gorgeous little number is actually a sweater shirt that doubles as a cold-shoulder item and triples as a transitional piece for nature’s fickle ways. Here in the south, the temperature hit 75 degrees today so this baby was perfect.

  4. Journee Collection Faux Suede Wedge Boot

Let me just start by saying how much I love Sheinside. The unique boho chic style of the clothing paired together with the astounding quality and great price makes this a steal of a gem. Seriously. Sheinside has come a long way. I’m very impressed with the quality of this sweater. The fabric was thin enough to keep me cool and thick enough to warm me up as the cooler temps set in.

On to the story. Today, we chose to hit the Barnes & Noble because…the bookstore’s brand coloring matches the gorgeous deep army green of the sweater. LoL Just kidding.

Sidenote: I’ve also included the links for the makeup I used to create my smoky eye. Since so many folks sent me messages on Instagram about creating an actual tutorial, I’m going to film one this weekend that shows you how to get a crazy sexy smoky eye before you even apply the mascara. Hint: It’s a LOT easier than you think. Stay tuned!

The reason I hit the B&N today was because a) I wanted to take a peek at the latest NYTimes bestsellers and b) because there’s just something inspirational about being in the midst of real paperback books. The smell of fresh pages. The scent of coffee brewing in the café. The sight of so many of my author friends who have published their hard work and now have books available for me to physically see and touch and smell. Love love.

I’ve recently returned to writing my next novels (yep, working on several at once) and I’m all torn up about the way I feel. I mean, it has been a little over a year since I last released anything. Words don’t magically appear on the paper/screen/phone after taking that long of a hiatus. Writing inspiration and motivation are tough to come by when you’re a word mistress. The struggle is real.

Yet, I have loyal readers depending on me, and my characters want to finish telling their stories. Time to hop to it and get my muse in line. This week’s outfit personified the way I felt inside with perfection. A little rough and ragged around the edges, yet still ready to slay the game.

Do you find yourself a bit torn about some things now that 2017 is in full motion? Maybe your goals feel a bit intimidating. Or perhaps you’ve set too high of a bar on that fitness resolution and now you’re struggling with feelings of self-doubt. I most certainly have these moments. It’s called human nature. Lots of folks feel the same way. So don’t sweat it.

However, I’ll leave you with one last piece of advice. Get outside and get motivated. Take time to enjoy the simplicity of life. I promise that when you learn how to savor the simple things then everything else falls into place. And guess what? You won’t feel so torn up about much at all. Life is good.
