#Widget Wednesday

What does that title mean? Well, it depends on you! Or rather, the widgets to be featured on Wednesday depends on what you enjoy exploring in life. For me, this means several ventures. At some point, you’ll begin to see these sites show up on my sidebar. Every Wednesday, I’ll share a new widget with you. The ones I’ve featured today top the list of my favorites. But I have many more waiting in the wings.  Let me begin by introducing you to a charity I recently discovered. Yes, that is who you think it is in the picture, and no he isn’t just a moody vampire, with a handsome face and a bad temper. Ian Somerhalder’s foundation promises to do some pretty great things. I’m ecstatic about being involved and have resolved to do even more this year. Click on the picture to explore the site. 😀       There’ll be plenty more to come from the Ian Somerhalder Foundation in the upcoming weeks. So stay tuned.      And of course you know I couldn’t leave without sharing a widget that’s close to my heart. I wonder why she feels that way, right? 😀 If you haven’t taken the time to explore goodreads, then go ahead and try it. Some of the greatest literary works have been discovered on there. Take A Chill-Out Moment

Take A Chill-Out Moment: Five Ways to De-Stress in the Midst of Madness We’ve all been there. Stressful day at work, growing chore list, kids who have too many activities for us to monitor, let alone mastering the ability to keep up with the demand of organizing the schedules. Let’s not forget the doctor’s appointments, trips to the salon, the grocery store line and finally the moment when we realize that quarter of a tank of gas is not going to last until the morning. Why? Because it’ll be time to start this schedule all over again the next day. With so many demands on our lives, we sometimes find it hard to relax, let alone think of what we can do during the rare occasions when we do find extra time. I’ve put together a list of five things that work wonders for my psyche. 1. Exercise My favorite is yoga, specifically Vinyasa Yoga which combines the fluidity of movement, strength building technique and breathing. This form of yoga is the closest thing to meditation and it’s incredibly relaxing once you master the moves. 2. Music If you haven’t already done so, then sign up for a music streaming service. For an eclectic, music obsessed person like me, this has been the best creation since Chocolate Glazed Donut coffee! For one flat rate per month, I get to listen...

In the Mood for Snow Cream!

I don’t know how you feel about all this snow, but I live in North Carolina. So when we hear about the slightest chance of a couple of inches of the white stuff, my boys and I start thinking about… drum rolls please! Snow Cream! Now mastering the recipe can be a bit tricky. My grandmother taught me how to buy the basics. But grandmoms tend to know secrets we can’t possibly begin to imitate. So as I head out to work today, I’m going to set out my snow pan and hope to catch enough flakes to make...

The Essence of Valentine’s Day

The Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies. I say, It’s in the reach of my arms The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of...
